KARACHI, Nov 4: The city government has decided that the departments concerned will be asked to ensure installation of fire prevention systems in multi-storey buildings, in consultation with the Fire Brigade department, an official of the department informed PPI.

He said that the decision was made during Karachi DCO Mir Hussain Ali’s visit to Gulistan-i-Mustafa (Sohrab Goth) fire station on Tuesday, who expressed his satisfaction over department’s working despite financial constraints, however, he said that the limited resources were hampering its smooth functioning.

A number of vehicles, including 10 fire-extinguishing vehicles, one snorkel and rescue vehicle, were lying idle in workshops due to meagre funds allocated for repairs in the budget, the official said. However, he hoped that DCO’s visit of the fire station would bring relief to the department.—PPI
