Smuggled betel nuts seized

KARACHI, Nov 4: The Customs Preventive Collectorate, Karachi, on Tuesday seized 11,800 kgs of betel nuts from a godown in the vicinity of Shah Waliullah Road.

According to a press release, the preventive collectorate had received information that a large quantity of smuggled betel nuts had been secreted in a godown.

A team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Cell under the supervision of SPS/DEC Abbas Ali Abbasi was constituted to maintain surveillance on the premises.

On Tuesday the premises were raided after the completion

of legal formalities and betel nuts were seized. Further investigations are in progress.
