Pakistan to present list of Taliban open to peace talks at quadrilateral meeting

KABUL: An Afghan official says Pakistan will present a list of Taliban willing to negotiate with Kabul at a meeting this week aimed at reviving the Afghan peace process.

Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the United States will meet in Islamabad on Monday to discuss a road map for peace talks. The meeting will not include the Taliban.

Javid Faisal, deputy spokesman for Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, said Sunday that Pakistan's list will include Taliban who do and do not want talks with Kabul on ending the 15-year war.

Faisal says Pakistan has agreed to cut off financial support to Taliban fighters based in Pakistani cities. He says insurgents based in Pakistan would not be allowed to resettle in Afghanistan.

He says the agreement would also include "bilateral cooperation on eliminating terrorism".

Abdullah Abdullah is one of the Afghan Officials brought on the shoulders by US and bestowed with the appointment of Chief Executive of Afghanistan. Neither Taliban nor the stooges of foreign powers are empowered to decide on peace or war. I think the main stake holders should sit together and say no to war and that will bring an end to the 15 years old war.

Why? Why is Pakistan pitching Taliban to the world. What have they delivered us. As of last week, they bombed civilians in a French restaurant in Kabul.isn't it about time Pakistan join with the mainstream rest of the world and cut ALL ties with these thugs.

Is this an attempt to derail the peace process again. Since when Abdullah Abdullah became the spokesman for Pakistan? Only government of Pakistan is authorised to speak on matters which relates to Pakistan. No one specially forigeners should comment on these matters. This chap is a northern Alliance member. These people are anti Pakistan and to expect that they would tag along in Pakistan sponsored peace process is like living in fools paradise. Pakistan is wasting time.

Is Afghanistan demanding the termination of citizenship to 10% of it's population? What a way to start peace. You can not square a quadrilateral by denying representation to a large chunk of the population.

lol....these Afghan peace talks won't continue.....Almost everyone living in Afghanistan is a pro-talibani ! Afghanis are living in Iran , Pakistan , Australia and some Europian countries. Afghan Intel want all of those Afghan people living abroad to come back and live in Afghanistan....Afghan intel will never accept Taliban ! ( A child not accepting his angry daddy ) lol ! Afghan intel will start sending terrorists to attack many places in Afghanistan ...... Afghanistan has been an enemy of itself since a long time !

is it possible for pakistan not to do anything at all with afganistan. if they need, then they can ask or gesture. this would be much better. let afgans decide if they want to involve pakistan in any thing. for example, if they want a bag of chips, then let them ask for it, then we will be happy to get the bag of chips to them. we should not say we want to sell the bag of chips to them. understand.
