LAHORE, Nov 2: Six goals by Taimur Mawaz Khan, including a hat trick, helped En Vogue to win the Guard Rice polo tournament, defeating Guard Rice 8-6 at LPC Ground on Sunday.

Rice, with two goals on handicap, extended the lead 3-0 when Saqib Khakwani, who scored two goals, struck his first, converting a 30 yards penalty hit in the first chukker.

Samee Ibrahim, who scored the remaining two goals for En vogue, reduced the lead 3-1 by converting a spot penalty. But Kamran Noorudin again increased Rice’s lead 4-1 by scoring a field goal before the chukker closed.

In the second chukker, Taimur slammed his first goal converting a spot penalty. That reduced margin 4-2. Rice again surged 5-2 ahead when Irfan Sheikh banged home a field goal before the chukker ended. En vogue took control of the match from the third chukker scoring four quick goals to surge ahead 6-5 for first time.

Taimur struck his second followed by Samee. Then Taimur added two quick goals.

Taimur completed his hat trick when he scored his fifth goal at the start of the fourth chukker. Saqib scored his second goal for Rice but Taimur struck his sixth which sealed the fate of the match.

Earlier, four goals burst in the third chukker enabled High Noon to beat AGri Mall 6- 5 1/2 to obtain third spot.

Agri were playing with a half goal on handicap.

High Noon eliminated the lead when Babar Monnoo, who scored two goals, blasted the first in the first chukker. Agri again seized the lead when Raja Amir, also a two-goal scorer, struck his first before the chukker ended. Agri kept the lead in the second chukker 3 —1/2-2 at the end of second chukker. Ahmad Ali, three goal scorers, and Raja Amir scored a goal each for Agri while Azam Noon scored for High Noon.

In the third chukker Azam scored his second while Kashif completed a hat trick to bring High Noon 6-3-1/2 ahead. Kashif Jamal led the four goals rally by scoring a hat trick. Earlier Azam Noon, struck his second goal.

Agri tried to make a match from it by scoring two goals in the fourth chukker all through Ahmad Ali but they could reduce the margin to half goal (6- 5 1/2).
