LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Punjab organiser Chaudhry Sarwar called on Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri at his residence on Sunday and discussed with him electoral reforms, investigation into Model Town incident, corruption, terrorism, unemployment, poverty and other issues.

Both the leaders affirmed their commitment to work together for solving the problems facing the country, Sarwar and PAT leader Khurram Gandapur told a joint press conference after the meeting.

They announced that another meeting would be held within few days to chalk out the future line of action and cooperation between the “political cousins”. During the meeting, it was decided to articulate a mutual mechanism to address the abovementioned national issues and the mechanism would be chalked out after the PTI intra-party polls.

Both the leaders said they wanted well-meaning electoral reforms and an independent election commission to make common man part of the parliament. They said the government’s failure to apprehend murderers of 17 deaths during Minhajul Quran police raid and killers of PTI workers in Phoolnagar and other cities was tragic.

They alleged that police were protecting the culprits and threatening the victims instead of arresting the accused.
