MUMBAI, Nov 1: Damien Martyn hit a classy 100 to spur Australia to a 77-run victory over India in the day-night one-day triangular series clash on Saturday.

The 32-year-old batsman struck his fifth one-day century as Australia made an imposing 286 for eight wickets after captain Ricky Ponting elected to bat on a slow pitch.

Martyn shared in a breezy 111-run fifth-wicket partnership with Michael Bevan (42) after raising 78 runs for the fourth wicket with Andrew Symonds (48).

India, never really in contention, were bowled out for 209 with 3.4 overs to spare. Michael Clarke and paceman Nathan Bracken picked up four wickets apiece.

Sachin Tendulkar led India’s increasingly difficult chase making a subdued 68, but Clarke bowled him with his left-arm spin to end his 99-run third wicket stand with stand-in captain Rahul Dravid.

Clarke also removed Yuvraj Singh (9) and Dravid (59) in quick succession to reduce India to 172 for five in the 35th over. He eventually finished with 4-42.

Bracken then struck further blows on the limping innings to return four for 29.

The world champions, who avenged their 37-run defeat in their opening game in Gwalior last Sunday, moved to top of the table with 13 points, ahead of India (8) and New Zealand (3), whom they meet next in Pune on Monday.
