APROPOS the news report ‘Dr Ruth Pfau honoured by German govt’ (Dec 22). It is indeed an honour for Pakistan that a German citizen has dedicated 55 years of her life to this country. She embarked on a journey to eradicate leprosy from our land and she succeeded. Her achievements and contributions for Pakistan are numerous indeed.

Pakistanis should strive to improve the lot of our society instead of leaving their motherland for greener pastures.

The dream that our forefathers had for Pakistan is being fulfilled by a German lady who gave up her home and hearth to serve the most marginalised section of Pakistani society. Hats off to Ruth Pfau!
