KARACHI: A suspected robber was beaten to death by an angry mob in Korangi area of Karachi on Monday, police said.

An enraged mob got hold of a 'burqa-clad' couple who were escaping after staging an alleged robbery attempt at a beauty parlour in Korangi number 4 area of the metropolis.

The man, later identified as Mohsin Raza, 25, was severely tortured by mob before police took him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, Korangi SHO told media.

The police officer said that the man breathed his last at Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) while his wife was rescued by the police. A pistol was recovered from the female suspect’s purse.

Back in August, a suspected robber-cum-murderer, Gul Badshah, was killed in New Karachi in a similar way.

The police had said that the suspected robber along with his accomplice had tried to deprive one Hafeez Haq of cash and valuables in sector 5-M of New Karachi. When Haq offered resistance, the duo opened fire, killing him on the spot.

The incident infuriated the area people who caught one of the robbers and beat him to death while his accomplice fled, the police said.
