Saqib shines

LAHORE, Oct 31: Two goals by Saqib Khakwani helped Ravi Autos beat Millat Tractors 4 1/2-2 in the Guard Rice polo tournament at the LPC ground on Friday.

Three matches of two chukkers each were also played to decide the teams for the subsidiary final.

Saqib increased Ravi’s one and a half goal handicap lead 2 1/2-o by scoring the solitary goal of the first chukker. He converted a 30 yards penalty hit.

Millat retaliated and reduced the margin to 2- 2 1/2 with two quick goals by Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana, in the second chukker. Ahmad scored the first after crowning a field effort and then converted a 60 yard penalty.

No goal was scored in the third chukker.

Ravi added two more goals through Irfan Sheikh and Saqib Khakwani in the fourth chukker to earn an impressive victory.

Four goals by Kashif Jamal helped High Noon to beat Sherwood in two-chukker match 4- 1/2-nil.

In another match High Noon beat Security 2000 2-0. Rashid Ali Baig and Kashif Jamal scored a goal each.

Sherwood faced its second defeat when Security 2000 won 4 1/2-2 in another two chukker encounter.

Shaukat Malik scored three goals for the winners while Aurangzeb Monnoo added one with a half goal handicap.

For Sherwood Ali Malik scored both the goals.
