ISLAMABAD, Dec 26: Pakistan does not want war with India and will not take any action creating tension in the region, said Foreign Office Spokesman Aziz Ahmad Khan.

Talking to BBC, he said: “Pakistan do not want war and despite provocations we have not taken any action of the kind which creates tension in the atmosphere.”

About troops movements along borders, he said: “From our side, we have taken only precautionary measures.”

To a question about the tension between India and Pakistan, the spokesman said “we have exercised restraint from the very beginning. We have said that we want solution of everything through negotiations.”

He added: “Pakistan has always denounced terrorism. When the attack on Indian parliament was carried out we denounced it.” President Pervez Musharraf also sent a message to Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and denounced the incident.

“We have always been opposed to terrorism. We cooperated with the international coalition in its operation against terrorism,” he said, adding that “we told India that if it provided proof against individuals or organisations we would take action against them.” —APP
