MITHI, Oct 31: The provincial minister for works and services and the chairman, Relief Committee, Tharparkar, Arbab Ghulam Raheem, has said that as 24 people perished owing to rain-related incidents, a compensation of Rs100,000 per death case would be paid to 19 families whose family members above the age of 12 had died.

He said this at a meeting of the district relief committee held here at the Darbar Hall on Thursday.

He further said a compensation of Rs50,000 per death case would be paid to those five families who had lost a member each below the age of 12.

He said that according to a survey, about 20,732 houses were damaged during the rains; hence, Rs10,000 per fully damaged house, Rs5,000 per partially damaged house, Rs3,000 per partially damaged cemented house would be paid as compensation.

Meanwhile, 2,185 cattle heads perished; hence, those whose cattle heads perished will be paid Rs5,000 per buffalo, Rs3,000 per cow, Rs8,000 per camel, and Rs4,000 per horse.

The government will be moved for providing wheat on subsidized rates to the inhabitants of those areas whose growers could not cultivate their land because rain water remained accumulated in their farm lands for weeks, said the minister.

As the rain had badly damaged the network of roads and buildings, the government will formulate a policy for repairing them, said the chairman of the Relief Committee.
