SUKKUR, Oct 30: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, has directed the AIGP and DPOs of Sukkur and Ghotki to locate Shaista Almani and her husband Qadir Bakhsh alias Balakh Sher Mahar and take all possible steps to ensure that no harm is done to the couple.

The directive was issued when the case came up for hearing before the two-member bench here on Thursday.

All of those who had been summoned by the court, including the aforementioned police officers, former MPA Rahim Bakhsh Bozdar, parents of Shaista Almani and her brother, and uncle of Balakh Sher were present.

The bench also directed the AIGP and the DPOs to keep the court informed about further development in the case on a weekly basis till the safe recovery of the couple.

The parents of Ms Almani and the uncle of Balakh Sher informed the court they had no knowledge about the whereabouts of the couple ever since they had married and then left their hometown.

The AIGP, DPOs and Rahim Bozdar also said they had no knowledge of the couple’s whereabouts and as such were unable to produce them before the court, as was directed by the court during the hearing on Oct 27.

Rahim Bozdar further deposed before the court Ms Almani was not residing with him as had been mentioned in the petition for the couple’s recovery.

The bench, comprising Justice Zahid Qurban Alvi and Justice Maqbool Baqar, asked Rahim Bozdar to act as Salis in the case and take measures necessary for the safety of life of the couple.

The case was adjourned till Nov 3.

FINED: The DCO along with a magistrate on Tuesday visited various bazaars in the city and imposed fine on shopkeepers charging higher rates for commodities. He asked the shopkeepers to display a price list at their shops.
