Apropos the letter (Nov 28). I fully endorse the views. The driving licence is issued for a maximum period of five years and one has to face many difficulties in its renewal.
As the interior ministry has extended the passport validity from five years to ten years and made the procedure easy, the district licensing authorities, too should extend the validity of licence 10 years.
This will reduce the workload and give the public relief.

Not only that the validity of the driving license should be increased, its renewel procedure should also be improved. The employees who are frequently tansfered the other sities face license renewel problems because they have to travel back to the place of origin of the driving license. To solve this problem, licensing departments in all the cities of Pakistan should be centralizes so that the data could be accessed from anywhere and so renewed from where the holder is currently living. This will save the license holder from travelling long journeys and save time.
