PESHAWAR, Oct 29: The newly-formed pressure group, led by Arbab Tariq, has decided to boycott the district council session summoned by district Nazim Azam Afridi here on Thursday.

The group is of the view that Mr Afridi has illegally convened the session to seek vote of confidence.

According to the deputy opposition leader, advocate Anwarul Hasan, they had conveyed their feelings to council convener Dr Iqbal Khalil that the session called by Mr Afridi was illegal.

He said they would submit a requisition with the convener for the early requisition of the council’s fresh session.

After the emergence of the pressure group, many other groups have sprung up and will hold their separate meetings in the city on Wednesday.

A group of 45 union council Nazims affiliated with the Awami Nation Party has convened their meeting at the Green Hut to chalk out their strategy.

They belong to town council-I, II, III and IV. Yakkatoot II union council Nazim Niaz Mohammad Mohmand will preside over the meeting.—Bureau
