ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: The People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) MPs briefed the visiting European Union parliamentary delegation on the country’s political situation and the party’s stand on the Legal Framework Order (LFO).

The meeting took place at the residence of PPP Senator Enver Baig where the party had hosted a dinner for the visiting EU team headed by Carrilho Maria on Tuesday.

Briefing the delegations, the PPP MPs said the LFO was a supra-constitutional document, therefore, it could not be accepted a part of the Constitution.

Sources said the PPP MPs briefed the team on their position on the issue and said they would not accept the LFO till its approval by a two-third majority in the Parliament.

The sources said the PPP team, headed by Makhdoom Amin Fahim, also told the EU delegation that the third generation agreement of normalization of commercial relations between the EU and Pakistan should be linked with satisfactory human rights situation and complete transfer of power from military to civilian. At present, the PPP members said, the military regime did not want to transfer powers to the civilians.
