Four shot dead by rivals

SIALKOT, Dec 26: Four persons were shot dead while another was injured over an old enmity in Khan Colony, Hajipura, early on Tuesday morning.

Four persons, including Gul Muhammad and Reham Dil Khan, forced their entry into the workshop of Ghafar Khan and Noor Elahi at 3am and opened indiscriminate fire. Ghaffar and his three guests, Mehboobur Rehman, Muhammad Ali and Habibullah, died on the spot while Noor Elahi sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to hospital in critical condition.

POLICE CLAIM: The district police busted 92 inter-district gangs of dacoits and arrested 1,867 proclaimed offenders from Jan 1, 2001, to Dec 15, 2001.

This was claimed by the Sialkot SSP while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

He claimed that police recovered stolen property worth Rs49 million, including 13 cars, 140 motorcycles, 15 tractors, 12 wagons, two coaches, 196 TV sets, VCRs, 147 cattleheads and 570-tola gold ornaments besides 91.85kg heroin, 233.14kg hashish, 11.385kg opium and 1,895 bottles of liquor. Some 12 hand-grenades, 23 Kalashnikovs, 215 rifles, 151 guns, 202 revolvers, 955 pistols, 59 carbines and 7,974 rounds were also recovered from the possession of the arrested criminals.
