HYDERABAD, Oct 12: A mob of around 100 people burnt a passenger bus after it ran over a young boy near Irrigation Workshop in Kotri on Friday.

The Kotri police confirmed that Khuda ki Basti bound passenger bus (No P-0716) was burnt by a mob after a young boy was crushed under its wheels.

Javed Sheikh, aged 18 years, son of Abdul Raheem, resident of Khuda ki Basti, was standing near the door of the bus when it tried to overtake another vehicle at a breakneck speed.

As he died on the spot, the passengers and people of the area got provoked, damaged the bus and set it on fire.

The police also reached there. Unconfirmed reports said that the police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the crowd.

The enraged people also blocked the Super Highway for some time before they were forcibly dispersed by police.

The driver and the conductor of the bus fled from the scene.

The accused Abdul Waheed later surrendered to police, the Kotri police said and added that the husband suspected his wife was not faithful to her.
