HYDERABAD, Oct 27: Sindh Zakat, Ushr, Auqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Dr Irfan Gul Magsi has said the government is making efforts to resolve problems of the people at their doorstep.

He was speaking at a gathering in the Kakepota village, Tando Allahyar taluka, on Sunday after inaugurating an office for receiving public complaints.

He said the government had introduced a self-employment scheme to enable unemployed youths to start their own business.

The minister said it would be ensured that the Zakat fund was distributed among deserving people. He said he himself had distributed cheques of Rs8 million among the deserving in Khisana Mori, Tando Allahyar.

Later, Dr Magsi attended a Diwali Millan Show in Goth Misri Bheel, Tando Allahyar taluka.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the government was working for the welfare of minorities.

He donated Rs10,000 to the Hindu Minority Association.

SEMINAR: The Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, organized a one-day seminar on “University- Industry Interaction Programme” on Monday.

The seminar was attended by researchers and faculty members of the university as well as personnel of the Wazir Ali Industries, Hyderabad.

Iftikhar Ahmad, regional manager, Malaysian Palm Oil Board for Pakistan and Middle East Countries, delivered a talk on palm oil, its food and nutritional aspects.

He offered support to the CEAC in its research programme.

The seminar was followed by a detailed discussion and question-answer session.
