HYDERABAD, Oct 27: A newly-married woman on Monday moved the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, to seek protection as she said she and her husband might be killed on the pretext of Karo-kari by her family members.

The court fixed the matter for Oct 28 and issued notices to police officials, mentioned as respondents in the constitutional petition.

SHOs of Cantonment and Market police stations, DPO, Hyderabad, SP, investigation, and the father of the girl, Mohammad Yousuf alias Lakha Dino Mallah, a resident of Bajhi Khoso, Sakrand, are respondents in the petition.

The petitioner, Sania, is presently residing in the Jamali town near Tando Allahyar.

She stated in the petition she had married Wazir Hussain alias Pathan according to Shariat but her father and other family members were against their marriage.

She said her father was pressuring her to get divorce from her husband.

She said her father was also threatening them with implication in false cases.

The woman said the police were conducting raids to arrest and implicate them in a case of Hudood Ordinance.

She said their lives were in danger as the respondents had resorted to illegal acts.

She prayed the court to direct the respondent police officials not to harass her and her husband and to provide them with protection.

NOTICE: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Monday issued notices to the District Police Officer, investigation, Station House Officer, Digri police station, and the Sindh AAG to verify facts of a constitutional petition, filed by a villager, alleging police harassment.
