SUKKUR, Oct 26: Four Chachar tribesmen were killed and two injured when 12 Teghani tribesmen attacked the Saboo Chachar village, Sadhuja police station jurisdiction, near Pano Aqil, Ghotki district, on Sunday.
Those killed were identified as Shah Nawaz, Abdullah, Yar Mohammad and Pir Bux.
The injured, identified as Mohammad Siddiq and Jamal Din, were taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.
The Chachars were working in their fields when the armed Teghanis arrived and opened fire on them.
Later, Chachar tribesmen staged a sit-in on the National Highway near Baiji.
On the police assurance that the culprits would be arrested, the protesters ended the sit-in.
COUPLE RETURNS: A woman, Shaista Almani, and her husband, Balkhsher Mahar, returned here on Saturday from Islamabad after an absence of one and a half months.
The couple had left their native area, Ghotki, after marrying against the will of their elders. Their marriage had led to the mounting of tension between Mahar and Almani tribesmen.
It is said that the couple has been made to return to avert a possible clash between the tribes.
Sources said that Shaista is being protected by an influential landlord, Rahim Bux Bozdar, while Balkhsher is being protected by the Ghotki district Nazim, Ali Gohar Khan Mahar, who is the elder brother of Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar.
