CHARSADDA: Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that the people of Sindh and Punjab have rejected Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the local government elections and expressed their no-confidence in its hollow slogans of creating ‘Naya Pakistan’.

“The results of local bodies elections show that angels had voted to PTI in 2013 general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said while addressing a workers convention here on Thursday.

The ANP chief said that people of Sindh and Punjab had given a clear message to the simple people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that they should not believe in the hollow slogans of change. He said that Imran Khan was in panic that’s why he was intimidating others.

“Every leader is bound to answer questions of media and the people but Imran Khan’s response to a journalist was deplorable,” said Mr Khan.

About the current situation in Afghanistan, he said that peace and stability in Pakistan was directly related to peace and stability in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan was facing serious challenges on different fronts, therefore, the rulers and institutions should improve their relations with Afghanistan as well as with the federating units of the country.

“I was an Afghan, am Afghan and will remain Afghan and cannot dissociate myself from Afghanistan,” the ANP chief said, adding that the British Empire had divided Pakthuns in three parts. He said that efforts were underway to integrate Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which was a good step and his party supported the move.

About the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif retracted from the decisions of All Parties Conference held in Islamabad.

He said that ANP would not compromise on Kalabagh dam and CPEC. Thousands of workers attended the convention.
