WASHINGTON, Oct 25: A former Karachi police officer, Muzzaffar Siddiqi, is among America’s 10 top police officers selected this year as “super cop” for their meritorious services.

They received the annual Law Enforcement Awards from the International Association of Chiefs of Police at Philadelphia on Friday. Police chiefs from 89 countries, including two from Pakistan, attended the ceremony.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Parade Magazine jointly selected Mr Siddiqi from hundreds of nominations submitted from across the United States for the position. The award symbolizes the highest level of achievement for a police officer in the United States.

Mr Siddiqi worked for the Karachi police for six years before migrating to the United States.

He speaks Spanish, English and Urdu and holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the Karachi University. He is the first American Muslim and the first South Asian to earn this distinction.
