Teachers hold demo against EDO

Published October 26, 2003

NAWABSHAH, Oct 25: Hundreds of primary school teachers of Nawabshah, under the aegis of the Primary Teachers Association, Masjid School Teachers Association and Jamiat-i-Madraseen, held a protest demonstration against the EDO, education, outside his office on Saturday.

They surrounded the EDO office for cancellation of orders of a superior.

The schoolteachers boycotted educational activities. They were led by Saleem Zardari and Kashif Noorani. They locked up the main gates of the office and raised slogans against the EDO, education, Aslam Turk.

They alleged that the supervisor, who was posted in Obhari Sawri, was creating trouble for the teachers and was demanding bribes on medical allowance. They said that even though the ADEO had transferred the supervisor, he was still working in the same place.

Later, talks were held between the EDO and teachers. The orders of the supervisor, Ghulam Hyder Khaskheli, were cancelled and he was asked to report to headquarters.
