KARACHI: SHCBA seeks early refund

Published October 26, 2003

KARACHI, Oct 25: The Sindh High Court Bar Association has urged the authorities concerned to refund the “misappropriated” deposits of the account-holders of the city courts post office savings bank within 10 days.

A press statement issued by SHCBA President Muneer A. Malik and Secretary Yawar Faruqui said on Saturday that the association was perturbed at the lack of progress made in resolving the issue.

Sindh Bar Council funds amounting to Rs 9 million, the Karachi Bar Association Co-operative Society’s Rs 8.7 million, a huge amount deposited by over 200 lawyers and lifetime’s saving of innocent citizens are stuck up in the 310 million-rupee scam.

Six months have already elapsed and an immediate action is required to bring relief to the depositors, they said.
