Tehsil Nazim voted out by majority

GUJRANWALA, Oct 24: Saddar Tehsil Nazim Mubashir Ahmad Cheema was voted out by a majority of members in the house, here on Friday.

Of the 56 members, 44 supported the no-trust movement in the balloting while only two members, including the tehsil Nazim’s associate, opposed it. Some 10 members did not participate in the proceedings.

A Qila Deedar Singh union council Nazim, Waris Ali Sethi, had tabled the no-trust movement against the tehsil Nazim while labour councillor Kaleem Akhtar corroborated it. He got a paper signed by 34 members in favour of the move, and handed it over to Saddar Tehsil Naib Nazim Sardar Inamul Haq.

Mr Haq, who convened the meeting, conducted balloting after which he announced the results to the members of the house.

Opposition leader Adnan Balagan and some other members the tehsil Nazim’s policies. The Nazim was not present on the occasion nor did he comment the situation.

SPECIAL POWERS: The Punjab government will give special powers to the district administration to take action against hoarders and black marketeers during Ramazan.

A notification to this effect is expected to be issued on Monday.

The government wants to keep the prices of commodities stable during Ramazan, and has directed the local administration to take action against the profiteers.

Meanwhile, the district administration held a price control committee meeting on Friday, and fixed the prices of eatables.
