LAHORE, Oct 12: The PML(N) observed black day here on Friday to protest at the military takeover two years ago and removal of the Nawaz Sharif government and the ongoing US-led air strikes on Afghanistan.

Acting Punjab PML(N) secretary Khwaja Saad Rafiq said the party had decided to organize public meetings at all the district headquarters throughout the country to mark the day when an elected government was ousted by the military.

In the provincial capital, the PML(N) had organized a meeting at Ravi Road which was addressed by several provincial and local party leaders who criticized the government for lending support to the US-led coalition against Afghanistan.

The speakers said the military had pushed the country into a deep crisis which only a democratically elected government could resolve. They called for holding early elections and hand over power to the elected representatives of the people.

They reposed their confidence in the leadership of exiled former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
