MIRPURKHAS, Oct 23: Following reports of fake appointments in the education department, Mirpurkhas, the education secretary, Sindh, has suspended the assistant account officer, EDO (Education) office, Mir Mohammad Rind, and the assistant head clerk, Admin-II, Ghulam Mustafa Jarwar, for their alleged involvement.

Reliable sources told this correspondent on Thursday that a group in the education department was involved in the scam and had made hundreds of appointments on different posts with fake signatures and stamps of the relevant authorities.

Sources further said that after receiving the complaints, the district Nazim, Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, ordered an inquiry into the matter which revealed that many fake appointments were made in the district, some of which were also detected by the EDO (Education) who had taken action in this regard.

It was also learnt that the district Nazim and other officials, having identified the fake appointments, removed the sham employees from their services but no action was taken against those officials who were involved in the scandal.

INFO SECRETARY: Sindh Information Secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, while talking to journalists at the Circuit House here on Thursday, said the information department was playing its due role despite a limited budget.
