ABBOTTABAD, Oct 23: Federal Minister for Education Zubeda Jalal has said that the budgetary allocation for the education sector will be increased by 3 per cent as the government has focussed its attention on providing quality education to students through its education reforms programme.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the annual parents day and prize distribution ceremony of the Army Burn Hall College, Abbottabad on Thursday.

The federal minister said that total allocation of funds in the budget for education was being increased from 1.6 per cent to 2.11 per cent directly.

She said if the amount spent by other ministries was included in the budgetary allocation, the ratio would have further improved.

The minister said that the government had provided opportunities to the private sector and engaged the public in the public-private partnership plan of the Education Sector Reforms (ESR) programme.

Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among students. Chief of the Army Staff championship trophy and Dr Waqarullah Memorial trophy for the best performance in games and athletics were awarded to Syed Ahmed Shaheed house.
