LAHORE: Pakistan will have an important role in the Climate Change Conference at Paris and its government is ready to participate in the conference, said Nathalie Dupont, political counsellor from Embassy of France while moderating a press conference at a hotel on The Mall on Monday.

Ms Dupont while highlighting the role of civil society for creating awareness about environmental issues said participation of civil society in the global conference in Paris would prove its success.

World Wide Fund for Nature with the Embassy of France in Pakistan and other civil society partners organised the press conference in order to launch the from Pakistan to Paris: On The Road to 2015 Paris Climate Conference. The forum itself will be held at the Alhamra Arts Council on Oct 13 and 14.

Dr Pervez Hassan, president of the Pakistan Environmental Law Association, Aisha Khan, founder and CEO of Mountain and Glacier Protection Organisation, Dr Ejaz Ahmad, senior director, WWF-Pakistan, Olivier Huynh Van from French Embassy, Rina Saeed Khan from Centre for Climate Research and Development (CCRD), Taimoor Sohail from CCRD, Mahmood Akhtar Cheema, director general, International Union for Conservation of Nature-Pakistan (IUCN-Pakistan) and Ali Tauqeer Sheikh spoke on the occasion.
