PESHAWAR, Oct 22: Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) leader Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has said that the MMA government stands exposed before the people due to what he called the “cosmetic measures” adopted for the enforcement of Shariat in the NWFP.

He said this while addressing various delegations of party members on Wednesday. He criticized the MMA for taking credit for the past deeds of others which, he said, showed its lack of interest in carrying out planning for the implementation of its manifesto.

He claimed that the recently introduced interest-free banking was an old method but now the MMA government was “unnecessarily scoring political points” on this system.

He said that like the Shariat Bill the interest-free banking had also exposed the credentials of MMA as it was not sincere in enforcing the Islamic injunctions.

He said the MMA had not done any homework while raising slogans in the election campaign and after getting an unexpected victory it got panicked and was at a loss how to fulfil those commitments.

He alleged that it appeared from the MMA attitude either they did not want the enforcement of Islam or they represented a divided house.

He said the MMA’s component parties were not pleased with the provincial government, forcing them to revolt against its policies. He added that if the MMA could not satisfy its own allies how it would serve the people.

He said the provincial government had not adopted concrete steps for the socio-economic uplift of the people. —APP
