MIRPURKHAS, Oct 22: The executive engineer, Jamrao division, Ghulam Hussain Leghari, has called for a report from the sub-divisional officer, irrigation, Mirpurkhas sub-division, regarding the complaint about irrigation land, located behind his residence, having been occupied.
The general secretary, Crime Control and Social Welfare Association, Sindh, Mohammad Hashim Shar, had submitted a written complaint before the XEN, Jamrao division, saying that one Din Mohammad had encroached upon irrigation land by establishing a factory on it for the last 30 years as his son, Mohammad Iqbal, was an employee of the irrigation department.
He demanded that legal action be taken against the encroacher.
OUTSTANDING DUES: The president, Sindh Agriculture Growers Development Association, Rais Ahmed Khan; the vice-president, Sindh Abadgar Board, Mirpurkhas, Haji Abdul Ghafoor Mahar, and its vice-president, Imtiaz Panhwar, have demanded implementation of the directives of the federal government about beginning of crushing season by Nov 1 and payment of all outstanding dues to growers.
In a joint press statement issued on Wednesday, they said that if crushing was delayed then Sindh province would suffer further losses regarding the cultivation of wheat crop.
They said that sugar cane growers were facing crisis as they were not paid their outstanding dues by the sugar mills’ owners.
They called upon the government to get the directives implemented by the sugar mills.
They urged the authority concerned to intervene in the matter and force the sugar mills to implement the government’s directives.
PUBLIC MEETING: Members of the minority community from Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Badin will participate in the Anti-Greater Thal Canal Action Committee public meeting in Hyderabad on Thursday.
A rally will be taken out which will be led by member Sindh Council of the PPP, Gianchand, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
