QUETTA, Oct 22: PPP provincial leader Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Khan Raisani has criticized the government’s decision to postpone the Naib Nazims’ election in Bolan and Nasirabad districts.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday he said that if Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali could not hold elections in his own home district then he should quit and let the people exercise their constitutional rights.

He alleged that the government was not sincere to conduct polls in Bolan district as first the PPP candidates were abducted who were freed after strong protest, and then court’s rejection of a petition left no option for the government except to postpone it.

Mr Raisani said that law and order situation was stated to the reason for polls postponement in Bolan, but questioned that what made the government postpone the elections in Nasirabad.

The PPP leader said that if general elections could be held in Bolan district just a year back besides by-election for provincial assembly seat then why polls for Naib Nazim could not be conducted.

He said that the PPP was in contact with other political parties and tribal elders of the area to determine a joint strategy to force the government hold polls in Bolan and Nasirabad districts.

He said that his party was also considering to move the court of law against the government’s decision.
