DADU, Oct 21: Sindh People’s Party Parliamentarians president Nisar Ahmad Khuhro has said people are facing difficulties in elections and routine work as Nadra has failed to ensure timely issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards.

Talking to journalists at the Dadu PPP office on Monday, he said it was inspite of the fact that Nadra spent Rs2 billion on its offices annually.

He accused the government of interfering in the Monday election for seats of taluka and district Nazims and Naib Nazims.

Mr Khuhro, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, said the PPP was not opposed to the local bodies system but it was demanding removal of flaws in the system.

Advocating provincial autonomy, he said provinces were not getting their rights and all the decisions and policies were being made by the Centre.

He said 70 per cent funds of development schemes had lapsed due to inefficiency, wrong policies and mismanagement of local administrations in the province.

SHOT DEAD: Bakht Ali Chandio, 45, was shot dead by three persons over an old enmity in the Thal village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, on Monday.

The police, on the complaint of the deceased’s wife, Khairan, registered an FIR against Mohammad, Anwar and Sheroo Chandio.

BODIES RECOVERED: The Rukkan police on Monday recovered the body of an unidentified man, believed to be of 30 years, from the Kakar Waterway in the Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka.

The police handed over the body to the Edhi Centre for burial.

The Sehwan police also found the body of a 34-year-old man from a water supply pond in the town on Monday.

UNCONSCIOUS: Fourteen persons fell unconscious after eating some sweet in Sehwan on Monday.

Those fell unconscious included Samina, 35, Asghar, 6, Bakhtawar, 45, Babli, 10, Mushtaq Solangi, 35, Fatima 40, Firdaus 10, Ghulam Haider, Mushtaq and councillor Hidayat Khatoon.

They were admitted to the Sehwan Taluka Hospital.

OPERATION: Hesco Dadu has launched an operation against different departments of the government to recover default amounting to Rs97.212 million.

Complying with the directives of Hesco chief a team led by Executive Engineer Ghulam Mustafa Soomro disconnected electricity supply to taluka hospital Mehar, rural health centres Sita Road and Mehar, basic health units Bhurt and Amri, TB hospital Dadu, primary school for girls Gorar, primary school for boys Mehar, Tunio, Depar, Gul Muhammad, Sojhro, Veggi and primary school for boys Khairpur Nathan Shah, taluka municipal committees Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mehar and Sehwan, XEN highways office Khairpur Nathan Shah, and police station Khairpur Nathan Shah.
