PESHAWAR: The Peshawar city police claimed on Friday to have arrested three militant commanders from the limits of Badhber police station here.

SSP Mian Saeed, who is responsible for police operations in Peshawar, told Dawn that the arrests were made during a targeted operation. He identified the militant commanders as Naseer Afridi, Zarma Khan and Hazrat Sher.

Mr Saeed said Naseer Afridi and Zarma Khan were commanders of Bara-based Lashkar Islam militant outfit and were facilitators of commander Jamroz Afridi. They were arrested from Sorizai Mera locality.

The police official said Hazrat Sher was arrested from Badhber Mera locality, adding Sher was a close associate of commanders Haroon and Sohail of LI.

A police official at Badhber police station told Dawn police recovered a sub-machinegun, a pistol and two hand grenades from the militants. Separately, the Counter Terrorism Department arrested an alleged target killer from the limits of Mattani police station.
