Shaukat takes eighth stage

LAHORE, Oct 19: Shaukat Awan (Wapda) won the eighth stage of the 11th Tour de Pakistan Cycle Race from Khanewal to Lahore on Sunday.

Shaukat clocked four hours 28 minutes 29 seconds to cover the 180 kilometre distance to earn a clear lead to runner-up Asmat (Army) who reached in four hours 29 minutes 09 seconds.

Ghulam Hakim (Railways) was the third with a timing of four hours 40 minutes 02 seconds.

Overall, Zahid Gulfam of Wapda is the leader at the end of the stage. He has the total timing of 38 hours 33 minutes 28 seconds.

The cyclists will paddle off for the ninth stage (Lahore- Gujrat) of 110 kilometres on Tuesday.
