KARACHI, Oct 19: Pakistan’s Saleh Muhammad stormed into the last 32 round of World Snooker Championship in style with a commanding straight frame drubbing of Mongolian Amarjargaj Bashdarj at Chingmen City (China), according to message received on Sunday by Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA).

It was also a good day for Saleh as he jumped on the top of pool ‘D’ after previous pool leader Mei Xiwen of China suffered his first defeat.

Saleh remained the only unbeaten cueist in his pool and will clash Mei in his last league tie.

This was immaculate Saleh’s 7th straight win in the pool which put him put him on top of the ladder.

Country’s star Saleh compiled two nice breaks of 69 in the first and 70 in the last frame to rout Amarjargaj Bashdarj 71-1, 62-20, 103-0, 111-0.

Saleh Muhammad, who finished third in 1998 world championship in Ghanzhou, will be playing three more league games in 11-men group.

Khurram Agha continued his struggle to make to the knock-out stage when he came from 0-2 deficit to down Danny Mak of Cyprus with two brilliant breaks of 75 in third and 88 in the fifth frame.

Khurram made a poor start losing the opening frame without any fight but unluckily missed the second on a black ball 54-55.

But an inspired performance saw Khurram taking the next four frames at trot to seize 20-62, 54-55, 100-18, 67-43, 105-0, 65-23 triumph.

The win kept Khurram’s chances alive for place in the second round of the championship. Khurram had won four and lost four off his eight league matches sofar.—APP
