Pakistan will continue working for restoring peace in region: Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan will continue to play its due role for bringing peace and stability in the region, Radio Pakistan reported on its website on Tuesday.

Talking to media persons in London, Nawaz said Pakistan is a responsible country and is playing its due role in the region correctly.

Nawaz said the government is pursuing agenda for the country’s prosperity. He said Pakistan will continue its efforts with Afghanistan for the restoration of peace in the region.

The prime minister said both the countries are committed to jointly fight the menace of terrorism.

He said Pakistan does not want any kind of disturbance in the region. “We have introduced several changes to the foreign policy, which have produced positive results,” the prime minister was quoted as saying.

PM leaves to attend 70th UN General Assembly session

Nawaz Sharif departed for the United States (US) to attend the 70th Session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The premier will address the UNGA on September 30 besides addressing the plenary meeting of General Assembly for adoption of the post-2015 Development Agenda.

On the sidelines, Premier Nawaz Sharif will also attend global leaders meeting on gender equality and women empowerment organised by China and UN women.

He will also attend receptions hosted separately by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. and US President Barack Obama in honour of heads of states besides being taking part in a peace summit co-hosted by Pakistan, US and the UN Secretary General.

According to UN website, the Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda will take place from September 25 to September 27.

While the general debate of the General Assembly will take start from September 28 and will conclude on October 6.

In last year’s session, Prime Minister Sharif drew attention towards climatic change and its affects in Pakistan besides repeating the country’s resolve to fight home grown terror and Pakistan Army’s sacrifices in the global anti-terror war.

Sharif said he condemned terrorism of all forms including the ‘genocide of Palestinians in Gaza’.

Sharif also laid stress upon Pakistan’s desire to improve relations with its neighbours Afghanistan and rival India.

Tensions between the two countries mounted after national security adviser level talks were called off in August as India refused to discuss Kashmir during the meeting.

Talking at a foreign ministers’ forum earlier this month, Prime Minister’s adviser on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan has “already prepared, evidence of Indian interference and subversive activities across the border and will present a dossier at the United Nations.

Aziz added that the copies of the dossier will also be handed over to Indian authorities.

The PM and his able cabinet have no clue of the national priorities. Our first priority is to deal with our glaring internal issues which includes governance. Before the "elected" PM lectures the world on peace, he should be here working day and night to establish peace and security at home so that all Pakistanis can feel secure in terms of their lives and property. Secondly, the PM needs to dedicate his time on elimination of corruption which is eating away the nation.The audit report of the power sector demonstrates an example of complete failure or rather absence of governance and obvious presence of large scale blatant corruption. The PM has said not a word about the audit report? Why? Should UN peace conference be on his agenda at this time? The answer is an obvious NO.

This is the time to raise the issues that Kashmiris want raised with UN and convey their concerns to the UN secretary general. We are the voice of the Kashmiri's under occupation, to the world. Palestine and Kashmir are two occupations we need to garner support for plebiscite. Time has come for it. All the UNMOGIP reports should be discussed about Indian LOC violations and atrocities in IOK. Evidence of India's terrorist activities, starting from Peshawar school massacre, should be shared with UN and US. Let US know, if it wants our help, it has to do more on UN Kashmir plebiscite resolution. Mr PM Nawaz, you are representing a regional power, speak like one.

Great going Nawaz. Everyone admires your performance, yesterday youw ere chairing meeting for security, today you have left for US, before we saw major developments. After long time Pakistan has landed in safe hands. Way to go Nawaz. Now look at Imran what is he doing? left Peshawar bleeding and compaign for 1 seat for quite a few days now, no focus over KPK issues. one seat is more important for him now. such a massive let down.

You know very well the situation of Imran Khan who is leading the party by heart, now hez been made to join hands with smaller parties in Punjab, he is going down. Its good that PML N is leading the country otherwise taking actions against Talibans would have been a useless event for Imran Khan. Nowadays he is campaigning for 1 seat and put back important issues of KPK, this is the leader do we want? no never, a person who can leave his province bleeding and has no concern for it how can we trust him to lead Pakistan and have concern for it. He can do anything to save his seat.

A very humble suggestion to our "ELECTED" prime minister.On a long flight home spend some time to practice and memorize your speech.For training purposes go to the archives and view Z A Bhutto's speeches to General Assembly and U N security council.You take out these pieces of paper from your pocket and deliver the speeches much worst than a sixth grader.Your performance in the past hac been quite embarrasing.

@A Pakistani : You are absolutely right. When Ayub Khan went secretly to China for 4 days to open "China Gate" for the US, only his personal cook knew about his visit. On strict instructions of his master (Ayub), he continued to take food and tea to the bed room of Ayub, sit there and and himself eat the food and bring back the empty tray to give the impression that the "Sahab" was very busy and wanted no disturbance even from the members of his family.

While the PM will address the UNGA on Sept 30, 2015 besides addressing the plenary meeting of General Assembly. On the sidelines Nawaz Sharif may walk up to Narendra Modi to shake hand. What will the 74 clowns do? Shopping, eating and drinking and messing around the call girls at Pakistani Tax-payers money like the PPP Ministers who visited Ghunghroo Night Club (Indian) in New York city. They spend about 16000 USD on the Dance Girls. Also drank and made extensive use of Limousine in New York.

@AW there's firing on the border and attacks planned in Afghanistan not to mention the unresolved Kashmir issue. The obvious answer is that yes it should go and stress these point in front of the international community it is a part of. The entire world doesn't watch geo news. Thankfully half baked ideas that sound great on paper like the ones you propose aren't under consideration.
