KARACHI, Oct 18: Pakistan number two Saleh Muhammad maintained his winning run in the World Snooker Championship with his sixth consecutive victory beating James Mifsud of Australia 4-2 at Chingmen City (China), according to information available Saturday here with Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA).

The 31-year-old Saleh carved out a brilliant break of 109 in the penultimate frame to almost assured a place in the last-32 stage of the 40-country championship.

Saleh staged another fight-back from 0-2 down to out-pot Aussie cueist 21-61, 53-63, 74-18, 68-11, 109-12, 66-06 with spectacular show.

Diminutive Saleh, who is getting in a habit coming from behind, once made a sluggish start but picked up his potting and cue control to demolish James Mifsud.

With his sixth win, Saleh is maintaining second spot in pool “D” on frame difference with Chinese Mei Xiwen.

After some bad news from Khurram, the Pakistan number one again in contention for place in the knock-out stage after he beat Elfred Evans of Wales 4-2 in his 7th match.

Khurram had won just three of his seven league matches.

The win lifted Khurram Agha at sixth spot. Khurram must win his last three matches by losing lesser to make into the next stage.

Khurram also dropped the first frame before beating Evans 55-65, 63-22, 80-32, 53-57, 80-24, 61-24.

World’s best 88 amateur cueists are taking part in the championship with 32 making the knock-out stage.—APP
