District Nazim may face no-trust move

SARGODHA, Oct 18: To oust the district Nazim from his office, a meeting of parliamentarians and Nazims was held under the chairmanship of MNA Chaudhry Ghias Ahmed Mela at a local hotel on Saturday.

Among the participants were MNA Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema, MPAs Ms Zahida Sarfraz, Zahid Iqbal Sindhu, Mukhtar Ahmed Bhirth, Faisal Farooq Cheema, Malik Shoaib Awan, District Naib Nazim Hamid Saleem Warraich, tehsil Nazim Dr Liaquat Ali Khan and former MPA Chaudhry Farrukh Javed Ghuman.

They alleged that District Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon was spending most of the development funds on his own constituency in Bhalwal tehsil instead of distributing development funds among various union councils in the district.

Voicing their concern over the biased remarks of the district Nazim against parliamentarians, they alleged he was also busy in maligning the PML-Q workers and leaders despite claiming himself to be its worker.

MNA Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema told Dawn that the meeting had decided to table a no-confidence motion against the district Nazim. He said another meeting would be held next week in this regard which would be attended by members of the Sargodha Zila Council.

The district Nazim was not available for comments, but some Nazims close to him said that Mr Noon had launched a campaign against corrupt elements and refused to become a tool in the hands of parliamentarians.

They claimed that the district Nazim enjoyed the support of a majority of house.
