RAWALPINDI, Oct 18: Director-general Military Lands and Cantonments (MLCs), angered by non-compliance of his earlier transfer orders, has made further reshuffling in the officer cadre of the directorate, sources said.
As many as 11 officers in grades 16 and above have been transferred from one station to another. Since the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has refused to obey his orders and not yet relieved the transferred employees, the MLCs chief, Maj-Gen Mohammad Javed, seems to have shifted his attention from cantonments to the estate offices.
The newly-transferred employees are: deputy military estate officer (MEO) Zakir Ali Khan, transferred from Karachi to the Military Estate Office, Gujranwala; Deputy MEO Mohammad Salahuddin from Quetta to MLCs headquarters, Rawalpindi; Deputy MEO Shahid Ahmad Khan from Sialkot to MEO Office Rawalpindi; Maqbool Elahi Saqib from Abbottabad to Peshawar; Mohammad Ali from Multan to Lahore; Zafar Ali Khan from Rawalpindi to Quetta; Mohammad Rashid from Peshawar to Abbottabad; Mohammad Saleem from Rawalpindi to Hyderabad; Asmat Kamal from Peshawar to Karachi; Hafeezullah Mahar from Wah to Multan, and Mohammad Afzal Khan from Lahore to Rawalpindi.
These officials have been directed to report on duties at the new stations by October 25.
Sources said the DG had earlier started harassing the two MEOs - Zafar Ali Khan and Mohammad Saleem - compelling them to move the court against the general.
It has been learnt that great resentment existed amongst all the employees of cantonments and estate offices due to what they said the revengeful practices of the MLCs chief.
“A crackdown of unprecedented nature has been started by the MLCs DG against the cantonments and estate offices employees and even the CSS officers are being harassed without any reasons,” the sources said.
