BEIJING, Dec 24: ISPR Director General Rashid Qureshi has said that the Chinese leadership has eulogized President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s policies to establish peace and security in the region.

Mr Qureshi told APP before returning home at Beijing International Airport that the Chinese leadership, including President Jiang Zemin and Prime Minister Zhu Rongji, had expressed confidence in the policies of Gen Musharraf for resolving regional and international issues.

He said Gen Musharraf’s meetings with Chinese leaders were extremely successful and productive, bringing the two countries closer in all fields of mutual interest.

The press secretary to the president said China had reassured Pakistan of its complete commitment and support in dealing with the regional and international strategic issues. There was unanimity of views on all matters of mutual interest, he said.

The Chinese leaders expressed hope that Pakistan would play a leadership role in South Asia for promoting peace and harmony, Maj-Gen Qureshi said.—APP
