KARACHI: Mohammad Umar slammed an undefeated 106 to help Fata pull off a shock six-wicket victory against Karachi Whites at the start of the Super Six stage in the PCB Inter-region Under-19 One-day Cricket Tournament on Saturday.

In the other fixture played at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, Rawalpindi trounced Hyderabad by 122 runs.

After being put into bat, Karachi Whites managed a total of 214-9 in their allotted 50 overs. All-rounder Alam Khurshid Shah scored a fighting 56 with his 70-ball effort containing seven boundaries.

Other notable run-getters for Karachi Whites were Kahaf Patel (39) and skipper Fahaddis Bukhari (25).

Ahmed Asfandyar was Fata’s most successful bowler with three wickets for 46 runs, while Hayatullah claimed two for 32.

Fata, in reply, then achieved an impressive result in their favour by collecting 217-4 in the 46th over. Umar stole the limelight by contributing a brilliant 106 from 136 deliveries. His knock included nine boundaries and a brace of sixes.

Umar was given excellent support by Mohammad Ibrahim (36) and Samiullah (35).

Fahaddis grabbed two of the four wickets to fall for 30 runs.

Rawalpindi were all out for 209 against Hyderabad after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Their chief scorers were Zeeshan Malik (49), Nasir Nawaz (37, Mohsin Rasheed (32) and Aamir Sohail (31).

Asad Malik captured three wickets for 39 while spinner Ibtesam Shaikh also chipped in with three wickets for 43 runs. All-rounder Daniyal Hussain (2-31) and Mukhtar Ali (2-38) shared the remaining four wickets.

But Hyderabad’s response to their target was disastrous as their batsmen capitulated like ninepins for a measly total of 87 in 26.4 overs. Only Uzair Jaffri (30) and Daniyal Hussain (20) managed to play worthy innings.

Mohammad Ismail was Rawalpindi’s bowling hero with a devastating return of five wickets for only 26 runs. He was ably assisted by Fahad Sumair (3-9) and Shadab Khan (2-4).
