GUJRANWALA, Oct 17: The Punjab government will establish two new directorates of social security at Sialkot and Gujrat to protect the rights of industrial workers, it was learnt here on Thursday.

The source said the social security west directorate running in Gujranwala would also be merged with east directorate to provide better facilities.

He said the director finance and director administration from Lahore head office had visited the city some two days ago and held a meeting at the social security west directorate in this connection. East directorate sitting chief Manzoor Hussain Alvi and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

The source also revealed that Jehlum and Narowal districts would be included in new directorates at Gujrat and Sialkot, respectively, for the benefit of industrial workers of these districts.

West directorate sitting director Sadiq Latif Saadi could be deputed at Gujrat directorate while Manzoor Hussain Alvi might be retained at east directorate, he said.

However, the Sialkot directorate head would be inducted by the Punjab government shortly, he added.
