TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 17: A boy was killed and several others sustained injuries, two of them serious, when a Quetta-bound Chiltan Express hit a wagon on Friday at an unmanned level-crossing near Pucca Anna railway station, some 40kms from here.
The 22-Down train was coming from Lahore rather at a moderate speed, prompting perhaps the wagon driver to hurriedly cross the unmanned level-crossing.
However, the train collided with the rear portion of the wagon, killing Imtiaz Ali instantly and injuring several others. While two of them — Perveen Akhtar and her daughter Naureen (11) were shifted to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, in critical condition.
The other injured people were relieved after they were provided the first-aid at a local hospital.
Driver Haji Muhammad escaped from the scene while police arrested conductor Imran.
The Railway authorities have ordered an inquiry.
SNATCHED: Armed robbers snatched a tractor-trolley loaded with cotton phutti on Wednesday night on Toba-Gojra Road.
Zahid Abbas of Chak 331-JB, Athwal, informed police that he was on his way to Gojra when armed robbers intercepted him and drove away with his vehicle.
Sadar police have registered a case against the two suspected accused and were reported to have begun an investigation in this regard.
