HYDERABAD: Girls outshone boys in the annual examinations-2015 of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Part-11 (Class-XII) announced on Saturday by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad.

Except for a boy in pre-engineering who stood third, all the top positions in the groups of general science, pre-engineering and pre-medical were clinched by girls in the 10 districts falling under the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad board, including Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Jamshoro, Dadu, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin and Shaheed Benazirabad. Pre-medical: Roha Saeed Memon and Khansa Ali of Superior College of Science Latifabad, Hyderabad, clinched the first and second positions, securing 950 and 948 out of total 1,100 marks, respectively. Sadhna of Hayat Girls Higher Secondary School Hyderabad secured the third position with 941 marks.

The percentage of successful candidates remained 87.11. A total of 18, 977 candidates, including 8,582 boys and 10,395 girls, passed their examinations.

Of total 21,878 candidates enrolled, 21,786 appeared in the exams while 92 candidates remained absent.

Among the successful candidates 743 achieved grade A-1, 2,968 A, 6,028 secured B, 7,587 got C and 1,628 clinched grade D.

Pre-engineering: Ayesha and Fatima Bibi of Superior College of Science Latifabad, Hyderabad, won the first and second positions respectively, obtaining 943 and 937 out of total 1,100 marks. Anees Raza of Government Boys College Qasimabad Hyderabad clinched the third position with 913 marks.

The pass percentage of candidates remained 56.64.Of the total candidates appeared in the exams, 93 clinched grade A-1, 2,016 grade A, 3,912 grade B, 3,657 grade C and 413 secured grade D.

General science: Syeda Humna Rashid and Mahnoor Qureshi of Latif Niazi Memorial Higher Secondary School Latifabad, Hyderabad, obtained the first and second positions respectively, having 788 and 781 out of total marks 1,100. The third position went to Mayam Nushra of Government Khursheed Begum Girls College Hyderabad with 779 marks.

The total percentage of successful candidates remained 28.04.

Total 783 candidates (both girls and boys) were registered. Of them 774 appeared in the exams while nine were absent.

Not a single candidate secured grade A-1 while six candidates achieved grade A, 86 won grade B, 109 candidates obtained grade C and 15 grade D.
