KARACHI, Oct 16: The annual poster and painting exhibition and contest for students of primary and secondary schools will help further cement the already existing close ties between Japan and Pakistan and enhance understanding between the people of the two countries, especially the youngsters.

This was stated by the Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Kanji Hanagata, while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the event held here at the Galerie Sadequain on Thursday.

The event was organized by the Japan Cultural Centre in collaboration with the city government.

Acting Nazim Mohammad Tariq Hassan was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away prizes. In his speech he also spoke of the friendly ties between Pakistan and Japan.

The theme of the contest was: “Pakistani traditional folkcraft and the Japanese traditional folkcraft”.

In the senior category, the first prize was bagged by Sadia Batool Shad, a student of class VIII of the Beaconhouse School Quetta. The second prize went to Nimra Ali.—APP
