LAHORE: The University of Health Sciences will host a three-day international dental research conference with the theme of “Dental Research: New Horizons and Challenges” on September 4-6.

The conference, which is being organised in collaboration with the Pak Association of Dental Research, will see key speakers from Canada, the United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

There will be more than 150 presentations at the conference where 90 national speakers from all over Pakistan will also talk about research areas of dentistry such as behavioral and epidemiologic health services, clinical dental research, craniofacial biology, cancer research, dental materials, education research, implantology research, microbiology/immunology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral biology and regenerative medicine, oral medicine and pathology, orthodontics, periodontal research, pharmacology and therapeutics and prosthodontic research.

The conference is also hosting clinical session in collaboration with the Pakistan Dental Association, Pakistan Association of Orthodontists, Pakistan Prothodontists Association, Pakistan Association of Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery, Pakistan, Association of Restorative Dentistry, Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Biomedical Materials, COMSATS IIT, and Society of Dental Materials Pakistan.

The focal person of the conference, Dr Sarah Ghafoor, said there would be 10 scientific and poster sessions with undergraduate and postgraduate competitions. Also, three hands-on workshop would also feature the conference.

She said more than 1,000 participants have been registered for the conference. In addition , this conference is linked with International Association for Dental Research and all accepted abstracts will be published in the Journal of Dental Research (Impact Factor: 4.1).

Ms Ghafoor said this was the only dental conference, which would be linked internationally thus providing an opportunity to the presenters to publish their abstracts in the highest impact factor journal of dentistry.

She added the objective of the conference was to provide an ideal forum for discussion and policy building in dentistry and explore the challenges that were being faced by the clinicians and dental researchers nationally as well internationally.
