HYDERABAD, Oct 16: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, has issued notices to officials of the election commission and election tribunal on a constitutional petition filed by Nazim UC-8, Mohammad Saleem Khan, and his deputy, Azhar Ahmed Sheikh, challenging the order passed by the election tribunal Dadu.

Lawyer Jhamatmal Jethanand appeared on behalf of the petitioners, who stated that presiding officer of PS-90, was examined by the election tribunal as a witness of respondent defeated candidates.

He said there was no justification to recall the presiding officer of PS-90 as a witness.

Mr Jethnanad argued respondents had neither applied nor entitled to any order of reopening of bag or counting of ballots under orders of the election tribunal. He said the respondent tribunal had illegally allowed opening of a bag through the witness who is already examined.

He prayed the court to dismiss the election petition against his clients and hold the order of election tribunal, calling for opening of bag for recounting as illegal.
