KARACHI, Oct 16: The president of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors, Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, has announced the establishment of the Editors, Journalists and Human Rights’ Activist Liasion Committee for the defence and strengthening of the freedom of the press, says a press release.

The objective of the committee is to maintain CPNE’s effective liaison with people and organizations engaged in the struggle for the rights of journalists, civil society and human rights.

Kazi Asad Abid, editor of Ibrat, has been appointed convener of the committee and Waqar Yusuf Azeemi, editor of Roohani Digest, alternative deputy convener.
