‘Evil nexus’

Published August 29, 2015

THERE is little doubt that Pakistan is besieged by ‘religious’ political and land mafias, which have joined hands to form an evil nexus in the country.

Today, terrorism and corruption go hand-in-hand, reinforcing and patronising each other.

We heard the news of the arrest of Dr Asim Hussain, a former federal minister and close aide Asif Ali Zardari. His arrest is ‘big news’, especially keeping in view the fact that no political bigwig has ever been touched for a long time.

The reaction and continued and willing support to the army by the PML-N government has to be seen, knowing as we do well that there are strong accusations against some of the key members of the Nawaz government.

There is also serious danger of violence and threats to the army chief and his family from the religious extremists and terrorist groups.

The nation is fed up with growing sectarian violence, terrorism and corruption. It supports and prays for the success of the army chief’s efforts to rid the country of these menaces.
